My own take on Obama's first two years is that the American people will forgive someone for being more liberal or more conservative than they are. After all, they are going to get that one way or the other. What they will not tolerate from the President and the Commander-In-Chief is someone who they perceive will not fight for them.
The Republicans outmaneuvered the president, undermined, and insulted the President. And yet still, he plays nice and reason with people who are against facts and against fairness.

Quite true. This is what I was getting at in my ten reasons to be disappointed about Obama, when I talked about his failure to use the "bully pulpit". This is really the main weapon a president has, as almost all other power is illusory.
